Personal assistant is a trusted employee who provides support to a specific individual and whose responsibilities often include taking care of non-office related tasks, such as running personal errands.

The main goal of a personal assistant is to relieve his or her «employer» from tasks that are associated with managing one’s personal and/or business life. They assist with a variety of life management tasks, including running personal errands, assisting bosses family members, arranging travel (purchasing plane tickets, reserving hotel rooms, renting cars, arranging activities, recommending a different route to a meeting according to road or travel conditions), finance (paying bills), shopping (meal planning, «remembering» special occasions like birthdays and anniversaries and purchasing gifts) and organizing leisure activities. Personal assistants also usually deal with phone calls and manage correspondence.

PA must have a strong work ethic, display self-discipline and prove an ability to multi-task under pressure. Many executives and managers look for a good personal rapport between themselves and potential personal assistants.
